Please join us for a meal.
We want to creates spaces for healthcare professionals and trainees to (1) create meaningful relationships with others in their field and (2) dialogue about how faith in Jesus relates to the practice of healthcare. To that end we host a dinner and discussion on the third Friday of every month.
Meetings are usually at Harvard Medical School, JBM Lounge in Vanderbilt Hall, from 6:30-8:30pm, unless otherwise indicated. Childcare may be provided (depends on availability) and RSVP is appreciated (see below). Here are our upcoming meetings and speakers:
July 19th: Andrew Fassett, MDiv. Boston Healthcare Fellowship Director will be leading a time of discussion and engagement around spiritual conversations. There is a lot of stigma associated with discussing spiritual matters at work and a lot of confusion on how to bring the subject up well in conversation. Come hear stories, learn new ideas, and consider how you can apply what you learn to your relationships.
If you have a story about sharing your faith, preferably in a professional setting, and would be willing to tell it at this BHF dinner then please let Andrew know at email@example.com. Even if you are only considering it :)
August 23rd (recent change: not third Friday): Welcome dinner for those new to Boston and a reunion for those who have been around awhile! Get the opportunity to meet different people and hear more about BHF and the vision for the next year.
September 20th: Gary Sing PhD. Director of Delivery System Investment and Social Services Integration at MassHealth. Gary will be sharing about how his faith encouraged him into his position and work with MassHealth, how he is helping to pioneer value based care, and more.
October 18th: Whole Person Care Conference Opening Night/Dinner. The Conference continues for those who register on Saturday the 19th. More information will be posted under the WPCC tab.
November 15th: Chris Manasseh, MD. Interim Chair, Department of Family Medicine at BMC. He will be sharing from his experiences working at BMC and about opportunities he has had to share his faith, primarily with patients.
December 6th (not the third Friday): Christmas Party. Take a break from the pre-holiday push and join us for a nice dinner and some fun Christmas related games.
February 14-16th: BHF Winter Retreat at Toah Nipi - Save the dates on your calendars. It will be a great time of fun, fellowship, learning, and prayer. Dr. Dennis Hollinger will be our guest speaker. He will be sharing about the ethical challenges facing Christians in healthcare and how to live as a Christian among these various obstacles in the day to day struggles.
March 27th (not the third Friday): Gloria and Ray White-Hammond, two doctors who became pastors will be sharing with us. Last year Ray was sick and unable to join his wife so this year we hope to hear from both of them!
